Gretchen Tolbert
Originally from Centreville, Virginia, Gretchen has been riding and competing in the Hunters and Equitation since the age of five. She attended Virginia Intermont College where she earned a B.S. in Equine Studies. During her time there, Gretchen was a member of the highly successful Intercollegiate Riding Team and Interscholastic Dressage Teams, bringing home national titles in both 2000 and 2001. After graduation, she took a position riding and training at McDonogh School in Owings Mills, MD. There she coached both the JV and Varsity riding teams, and trained at local and rated horse shows throughout Zones 2 and 3. Her students competed in divisions from Short Stirrup to Junior Hunter. Gretchen was also an active member of the Baltimore County Horse Show Association, serving as a member of the Board of Directors as well as Horse Show Steward. In 2006, she returned to the Bristol area where she took a position at Dream Hill Farm, training and developing young horses.
As trainer of Rolf Carlyle Equestrian Center, Gretchen brings practical experience, training, and coaching techniques that have lead her students to numerous championships and year end awards. Her patience and enthusiasm, allows students of all ages and abilities to feel comfortable and develop into competitive riders.
